Solidarity Economies: Geographies of social, solidarity and antagonistic economies – Peter North

This seminar addresses grassroots attempts to build socially inclusive and sustainable economies through what are variously called diverse or community economies.  It distinguishes between social entrepreneurship, using business skills to do good; socially inclusive social economies; solidarity economies based on how we mean to live; and antagonistic economies challenging the pathologies of free market capitalism. It addresses the opportunities and challenges of these approaches in building convivial economies.
